Christmas Eve And All Is Well

It's unfortunate that people have to work on Christmas Eve. I think that they should make both Christmas AND Christmas Eve holidays. There are some good reasons behind this thought too.

Reason Number One:
Alot of people celebrate many different Christmas's. As a result, many of them won't fit in on Christmas Day, so these people use Christmas Eve as a time to get together with either friends or other family members. I personally do the latter of the two ... and I'm going to be heading to Frankfort immediately after work today, which brings me to number two.

Reason Number Two:
People have to travel to get where they're going to go for Christmas. Leaving Christmas Day just isn't a real alternative, as some trips take a hell of a long time. Imagine if I was going to Minnesota for Christmas ... that's a 14 hour drive from home. Am I going to make that trip on Christmas day? Hell no, I'm not. So, people are forced to take a vacation or sick day in order to make it to their Christmas destinations ... which I find quite sad.

But anyhow, I'm at work and not really doing much of anything on Christmas Eve. As a matter of fact, it's just really really quiet today. So quiet, in fact, that I'm thinking of maybe heading out early today so I can get to Frankfort before 6pm. I'll need to give Kyle a buzz before I make that decision, however, to make sure that he's around just in case something happens.

Speaking of Christmas, I often wonder if I'm becoming a scrooge. I don't see Christmas in the ways that I used to when I was a child. Once upon a time, the most important thing to me was the presents and being able to aquire new things. These days, I just appreciate the family aspect of the whole thing ... and would rather buy gifts for the kids and let the family spend the money on a huge feast rather than one another. I don't know tho ... maybe it's just me but this is the way that I'd like to do Christmas. I guess whenever Amanda and I have a family of our own, we can do it the way that we want to do it.

After all, Christmas isn't about gifts anyhow. It's the celebration of the life of Jesus Christ. I can't think of any better way to celebrate Jesus than being with your loved ones and pigging out on good grub.
